Exams
The frequency of your visits will be based on your individual needs and oral health, determined by your initial comprehensive exam and x-rays. Close monitoring of your teeth is essential, especially since most problems will not start being truly painful for you until significant damage has been done to the tooth structure. Detecting potential problem areas before you experience a toothache will help you avoid any serious damage and pain. During each visit, we will update your medical history, perform an oral cancer screening, check your teeth for cavities, review oral hygiene instructions, and monitor your periodontal (gum) condition. We also provide fluoride treatments for children under the age of 13, as well as for adults (when appropriate).
If the thought of a visit to the dentist makes you uncomfortable, you are not alone. At The Dental Center, we understand the anxiety that usually accompanies a dental exam. We do all that we can to make every visit as comfortable as possible for you. In addition to topical and local anesthetic, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available for those patients that require additional pain relief.
